To improve your wellbeing, you have to believe you can make a change.

Psychologists have found that the beliefs we have about our abilities and our potential are predictive of future outcomes, including our wellbeing.

The renowned Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck has identified two key belief systems that relate to these beliefs: fixed versus growth mindset.

If you have a fixed mindset, you assume that your character, your intelligence, and your abilities are static and can’t be changed. This could manifest in your believe that you cannot influence your future wellbeing.

If you have a growth mindset, you believe in your capacity for change. You believe believe that your wellbeing can be enhanced through effort and developing new skills and strategies.Research has shown that a growth mindset allows people to navigate stress and challenges better and can lead to higher levels of wellbeing.

This week, I encourage you to embrace a growth mindset

FIXED MINDSET:

I can't make a mistake!

I give up!It's too hard.

I can't do this.

I'll never be healthy.

I can't do any better.

GROWTH MINDSET:

Mistakes help me learn.

I'll try it another way.

I can train my brain.

I can't do this - yet!

I improve with practice.

Is this my best effort?
